Membership in the Boy Scouts of America during childhood, adolescence, and adulthood
plays a major role in shaping character and values and the use of these values in daily life. Take a stand
on character, values, and integrity in support of our young people by making a contribution to the Yucca
Council, Boy Scouts of America. It's the smartest investment you can make, an investment in the greatest
asset America has—its children.

The Border Fund
The Border Fund was created in the fall of 1993 to raise and distribute charitable funds to local nonprofit
organizations that benefit the care, support and education of the hungry, disadvantaged, disabled and general
needs of women and children in the El Paso/Juarez and Las Cruces communities. It is a fund of the Robert R.
McCormick Tribune Foundation in Partnership with JDW Insurance and CBS-4. Contributions to the Border Fund will
be matched by the McCormick Tribune Foundation and distributed in our local area without any administrative
overhead. Since inception, the Border Fund has distributed over $23.4 million to charitable organizations that
provide care, support and education to help improve the quality of life in the border region.
We are grateful to be one of seven participating agencies in the Spring 2005 Border Fund Donor Advised Giving Campaign and
encourage you to make a tax-deductible donor advised contribution to the Border Fund, which will earn a 30 percent match
from the McCormick Tribune Foundation. This gift will greatly impact the ability to provide services and programs to
local nonprofit organizations such as the Yucca Council Boy Scouts who serve at-risk youth in the West Texas and
South-Central New Mexico area thru its Quality Scouting Program. Through
April 30th you can make a contribution to the Border Fund, a fund of
the McCormick Tribune Foundation at

The United Way
Yucca Council has been and continues to be a United Way Agency.
Unfortunately, due to lack of funding to the United Way, the allocation to the Yucca Council Boy Scouts
has been decreased 46% (approximately $50,000 each of the past two
years) in El Paso County. Due to this funding cut, we need the help of all Scout families and
the community in order to continue to provided the services and quality values-based program to all the youth of our Council.
The Yucca Council serves over 10,000 youth in it's service area stretching from Silver City to Truth or Consequences to
Alamogordo to El Paso and Hudspeth Counties. Over 4,000 of those youth are in the Council's ScoutReach and Learning
For Life Programs.
